<rant>Okay. My computer is being mucho weirdo. This morning, I turn it on. It does the bluescreen Microsoft scandisk thing. It tells me it found an error and fixed it. It restarts my computer. Okay. So far, nothing too bad. Now it takes me to the login screen. WHICH IS CYAN. Not pink with a Fushigi Yuugi desktop like it should be. Like it was just last night. BUT FRICKING CYAN. With an Eboshi cursor [Lady Eboshi is a character from Princess Mononoke, you fool]. Heeeeey, I think. This looks kinda familar, I think. I REALISE IT'S THE SAME FRICKING COLOUR SCHEME I HAD ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. Uh-oh, I think. So I enter my password. Phew, it works.
Now. My Fushigi Yuugi desktop appears. But the stupid computer's set to 800x600, so it only shows like half of it. Okay. First thing I do is fix the size thingy settings. Back to 1024x768. While I'm doing this I realise my toolbar is different. There are like ten more icons next to the clock than there were last night. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the extras when my grandmother calls me. I leave the computer for five minutes or so, go do a chore for her, then come back. There's a screensaver. I never use screensavers. This must be the one I HAD IT SET TO SIX FRICKING MONTHS AGO. So, I wiggle the mouse. Do you know what happens then? It asks me for a fricking password. I try about five. None work. Restart computer.
First thing I do is to go to screensaver properties and get rid of the password. But I don't hit 'OK' or 'Apply,' that would be too obvious for me. I go up and down the list looking at screensavers. I even hit preview for one. Watching screensaver, yay. Then I try to get out. IT ASKS ME FOR THE PASSWORD. Restart computer.
Okay. Now I get rid of password. For good. Then I fix the colour scheme. I have to do it all from scratch, though. BECAUSE ALL THE DESKTOP SCHEMES I SAVED SINCE THE CYAN ONE DISAPPEARED. Fecking feckity feck. So, I get that under control. Start Internet Explorer. There's that STUPID YAHOO! COMPANION BAR ON IT. Gee, I haven't had Y! companion for ... oh, maybe six months. Uninstall that. Start Outlook Express. The only e-mail account it has is kate@fandom.com. That hasn't been working since like May. HELLOOOOOOO. So now I have to delete that and add my three others. Argh, argh, argh. All this time, I'm chatting to people. On Trillian, you see. Then Allie asks me if I got the invitation. Huh? The chat invitation. Ah, no. [Trillian doesn't let you do chats.] So I go to sign on AIM. None of my current screennames are there! Surprise, surprise, it only has the ones I used SIX MONTHS AGO. And I always use that 'remember password' feature, so I have no idea what any of my passwords are. Glarg.</rant>
In short, my computer somehow reverted to the way it was six months ago, and I am not happy.
